Proverbs - Terrel Taylor

I read the book of  Proverbs more than any other book in the Bible. A few years ago Doug Wheeler encouraged us to read a chapter of Proverbs every day, thus completing the entire book of 31 chapters in about 1 month, and then repeating that process throughout the year. The thing that stands out to me in the book of Proverbs are the things that are repeated over and over. This tells me that they are very important. The first thing that comes to our mind is admonishing us to seek wisdom. Then comes controlling our temper, controlling our tongue and being peacemakers. It
seems to me that all these things work together. A wise person controls his temper and if we control our temper it is easier to control our tongue. If we do all these things we will be peacemakers. Let me encourage all of you to continue to study Proverbs. It is a great book. I have been greatly encouraged by comments from new members about the work that all of you do.
Thank you. Love to all, Terrel

Helping Others - Robert Hamm

Every year we see several natural disasters: earthquakes, floods, tornados, and hurricanes. It is right plus encouraging to see God’s people and many Americans respond to help victims they have never met or expect to meet. It is great to see big trucks parked at those disaster sites with signs on their
sides: “Churches of Christ Disaster Relief!” Other churches and organizations from all across the land send and go to help the helpless and homeless! We all sacrifice because we have learned from Jesus
Christ and His Word that this is what one does when others are suffering! (Luke 10:25-37; James 2:14-17) It is noteworthy that the American Atheist Association nor the financially well-endowed ACLU have
never sent a dime for such relief. I thank God for first loving us and for teaching us to love others! Way to go, Dewey church! Thank God for opportunities!
